it's been nice knowing you
Jun. 29th, 2009 08:24 pmNo, I'm not flouncing out of fandom, but I am about to start studying again (professional qualifications), and this is gonna be much more time consuming than university, alas. So my fandom participation and much of my social life has to take a backseat for big chunks of the next twenty months (assuming I pass everything first time, which is a necessity if I am to have any chance of not going insane).
I will try to keep up with f-list and twitter, but there will be times when I probably shouldn't. RL friends - it's not that I don't want to see you guys, and I won't be a total hermit during semesters, but I will be passing on a lot of social occasions, especially during the day on weekends.
God, I'm totally depressing myself :(
Oh, and there's basically no break between the first and second subjects, the next one starts a week after my exam. But there are breaks (between 5 to 9 weeks) between subjects after that.
Confession - while I've been dipping my toes into American Idol stuff, it's not really been for the fic, but I would totally read AI gen stories about wacky tour antics, especially if they featured Adam and Kris getting over-protective big brother-ish because Allison meets a guy (or girl). Hell, it could be a bandom crossover (I'm trying to think of people young enough and awesome enough for her - omg, Allison/Cassadee is too much adorableness in one pairing). But not being into the fic is a good thing, given the whole "needing to cut back on fandom time" thing.

Date: 2009-06-29 10:37 am (UTC)It's a good thing you aren't in it for the fic; the good stuff is hard to find. Mostly I'm in it for the macros and gifs.

Date: 2009-06-29 10:51 am (UTC)Speaking of which, I read some original character slash recently (aka I bought a gay historical romance book) and it was terrible. I'll stick to the free stuff online.

Date: 2009-06-29 11:24 am (UTC)But neither are rollicking gay Georgette Heyer romances of my dreams. Thank god for bandom recasting of Pride and Prejudice, that filled the void for a little while ;)

My priorities, let me show you them ;)
