If I wrote fic anymore (hah, like I ever wrote much), I would warn for triggering content. Because I don't understand why you wouldn't, my brain just can't grok it.

And this is a terribly shallow thing to talk about straight after a serious topic, but right now I need some happy stuff, or I'm going to go crazy trying to figure out how to bitchslap people through the internet. These tweets made me :DDD so I want to keep them.

My only thing with that is what's the line for triggering? And should I warn for something that is a spoiler? (I am completely out of the loop on the current discussion/what's going on with it, just fyi). I've seen people be yelled at for not warning for character death, but a book doesn't warn for character death! Sometimes there's character death and part of the power of it is the fact that you don't know it is coming! On the flip side, if the story starts all about someone dying that's not really a spoiler and should be warned for, or if the entire thing is about bloodplay then maybe you should mention that. The super clear triggers are easy, but I always worry for people who get flack for not warning for triggers when it's weird on unclear.

As far as spoilery warnings go, you could do something like this, which makes the spoiler invisible unless the reader chooses to look at it. That way, people can decide for themselves whether they're willing to risk it.

But there are easy ways that warnings can be optional, so people have the choice to spoil themselves or not. And most people I've seen have been talking about a core group of main triggers like rape/sexual violence, dubcon, child abuse, death, incest. And for people to be understanding when someone says that the story was triggery in some way and might need a warning on it (and not reacting like ficsoreal, basically).
