The S3 dvds of Angel are being released in March, and they've got audio commentary for 'Billy", "Lullaby" and "Waiting in the Wings".

"Billy" is vile, "Waiting in the Wings" is one of the single worst episode of Angel or Buffy ever, and I can't even remember "Lullaby", but it's part of the (yawn) baby-arc.

I mean, if you're gonna try and justify and explain away your crap, try "Tomorrow". Sweet lord, people. I don't know about the other seasons of Angel, but on the Buffy dvds, they tend to do commentarie on the GOOD episodes. I know that's hard with S3, but you could at least try,

I'm actually excited for commentary on Billy - I thought the idea of men examining their own sexism, that we're all affected by living in a patriarchy even if we don't want to be, was really interesting (and pretty unusual for TV). Plus it reclaimed the idea of being a bitch as a strong, positive thing - I loved Cordelia and Lilah being somewhat allies. I wasn't so thrilled with all of the execution, and I'm still appalled that there was no follow-thru on the issues raised in the ep, so I'm very interested to hear behind-the-scenes stuff. That ep should have been so much cooler, and I'm curious to see if ME knew that and screwed up, or just accidentally threw some interesting ideas into a crappy season. YMMV, obviously.

Hmmm, I thought the whole episode was handled pretty badly. Not just the main theme, but the sudden plucking of Wesley having a thing for Fred out of the writer's ass, just to unnecessarily up the angst quotient (what? he wouldn't have felt bad enough if he wasn't interested in the girl he attacked ::eyes rolling::). And while I like the Cordelia and Lilah interaction, I felt they then undermined it by having to have Angel "save" Cordelia from killing Billy.

But you're right, hearing someone try to explain what they were going for and how they think it turned out could be interesting. Maybe watching it with commentary wouldn't violate my vow never to watch this episode again (that's how much I disliked it).
