Dr Who Confidential

Confidential's are behind-the-scenes programs about each new episode of Dr Who, with interviews and stuff. They can range from quite good to a bit dull, but I just had to share this week's because John Barrowman (being fun)! Derek Jacobi (fanboying the show)! John Sims (impressing his kid)!

Also, if you didn't already see it, there was a fantastic (of sorts *g*) songvid at the end of last week's Confidential, celebrating all the Doctors, done to Fall Out Boy's "Thnks fr the Mmrs". I can't seem to clip it easily without the sound going wonky, but it's on youtube here.

Dude, Fall Out Boy is everywhere. It's kind of freaking me out. And question: do I need to have watched Dr Who to watch Torchwood? Because Torchwood looks really ...interesting.

Nooooo, you don't, but it'll make more sense/have more resonance if you do. Also, while Torchwood has some very good points, overall I rate the show as not as good as Who, but you should totally check it out for yourself. If you want, I'll make you some discs of the eps (I don't trust Ten not to cut it up), and can toss in some Who (at least the most relevant eps to TW).

Hmm thanks for the offer but I think I'm going to have to suck it up and download all of Dr Who. Not that it's a chore *g* but I was kinda intimidated before now. Since bandom (and creeping slowly into NCIS, dude this show is so awesome!) is the only active fandom I'm in atm, I think I'll have enough time to just dive in fully.

I can always send you all of Dr Who (by which I mean the current series, not the decades of Classic Who *g*). You totally don't need to be familiar with Classic Who, most things are explained with just some references/shout-outs for the fans who remember.

The running order is first two series of Who, then Torchwood, then the current third series of Who.

This is the Ninth Doctor. He's cool :D

YES! It was at the very end of the Confidential. And that week's Confidential episode was directed by DT (the actual ep was Doctor-lite, so maybe he had some time on his hands), so possibly he was involved in the songvid???

This series has been great, on the whole probably better than Ten's first series. Totally give it another go :)

I watched Torchwood without having ever seen a single ep of Dr Who. There were very few references I didn't get. Since then I have started watching Who - I mainlined season 2 over a short period of time, and am keeping current with season 3. I have now decided I'm going to track down season 1 as well.

Ahahaha, I'm definitely in the minority that much prefers Torchwood to Who! It's not that Who is bad, but I like my sci-fi more "adult" than Who allows. :)

I am going to try and beat the wifi at work into submission long enough to dl this and the ep - my love for John Barrowman requires me to grab everything he's in, even though the only other thing I've seen David Tennant in was playing a creepy bastard who beat his girlfriend in a tv movie on CBC! If yesterday's adventures in the internets are anything to go by, I probably won't succeed, but I'm giving it the college try.
