incoherent Dr Who rambling
Jun. 17th, 2007 09:57 amWatched it by myself, since I wasn't waiting for my sister to wake up (she's not a morning person).
::flails:: klsdkljdskjlsdkjlsdjkllskdfj!!!1!
...
Actually, I don't know if I have any thoughts beyond that. Keyboard mash is about all I'm good for, which is a bummer as I need to go study.
JACK! My heart nearly broke when the Doctor saw him coming AND STILL WENT! But you know, I had wondered if Jack (undying, unchanging) would turn out to be a wrongness on a scale the Doctor couldn't deal with, so go me. But Jack's face when the Doctor told him. But then he accuses the Doctor of being prejudiced. I love the affection that shines through from them both, despite the issues and angst. I love that they addressed that Jack thinks Rose is dead (though I'm not sure him watching her grow up was more sweet or creepy). The whole conversation when Jack is in the room was brilliant.
Kudos to David Tennant and John Barrowman for having brilliant chemistry - it really was Jack and the Doctor, didn't matter that it wasn't Eccleston.
I'd also wondered if Derek Jacobi was going to be playing the Master, then got spoiled about John Simms playing him, so whoa was this a good turn of events. I love that the beautiful Human Nature two-parter tied into this, makes those episodes *even* better.
JACK! FLIRTING! Hah, did you see Martha gradually cotton how to Jack flirting with everybody *g*. And the Doctor constantly telling him to stop. And we have a date - Jack's been on Earth since 1869. So nice to have that sorted out.
"You two, we're at the end of the universe, right at the edge of knowledge itself, and you're busy...BLOGGING!"
Hahahaha, the Doctor asking Jack if he's had work done (which he doesn't deny) and Jack being all "You can talk!"
On Jack meeting himself - "The only man you'll ever be happy with", heeeee!
You know, I like Martha. And I quite liked her in this episode too, and while I feel for her that she constantly feels overshadowed by the ghost of Rose, her eyerolling was really offputting.
God, if I list everything I loved I'll be here all day.
BUT ARGH CLIFFHANGER!!!1! NEED NEXT WEEK'S EP NOW!!!

Date: 2007-06-17 12:04 am (UTC)Ya know, at this point, I have a feeling that Barrowman could have chemistry with a brick wall.
Oh, how I've missed him!!

And yes, me too!!

Date: 2007-06-17 12:45 am (UTC)Although, why did Martha say "I know that voice" when John Simm was talking to them? Is that something we're going to find out later?
And word on getting slightly annoyed with Martha. Usually I really like her. The beginning cracked me up when Jack kept talking about Rose and Martha was like OF COURSE SHE WAS A BLONDE! But later on when she kept pouting I just wanted to say "LAY OFF ROSE, OKAY? SHE ABSORBED THE TIME/SPACE VORTEX AND DISINTEGRATED ALL THE DALEKS SO STFU!"
I kind of wish Martha could meet Rose. But not really, because they would both be so possessive of the Doctor that it would turn into a catfight. But it worked out in the end with Sarah Jane!

Date: 2007-06-17 01:24 am (UTC)She's a Life on Mars fan? ;) But seriously, don't worry, I only know cause I've been spoiled.
And who would complain about Jack hitting on them? Only crazy people :)

Date: 2007-06-17 07:05 am (UTC)And oh, the Jack/Doctor (or Jack&Doctor or whatever :p) just made my entire century. Even the tension between them just had me going XD like mad.

Date: 2007-06-17 08:21 am (UTC)The tension between them was just delicious, the scene in the radiation room was just perfect.
I just posted the Confidential for this episode, and there's a comment from the narrator about Jack and the Doctor that just killed me *g*.

Date: 2007-06-26 07:14 am (UTC)OMFG I totally missed that! He SAW him?! I think I was fluffing around and wasn't looking at that point. %@$@#!#*#%$!!!!! That settles it, I have to watch those episodes again. And again, and again...
I am in love with this episode. I don't suppose that's healthy, is it? To be in love with an episode? Of course, I am a slut because I am also in love with 3.12...
I just love what they're doing with pretty much all of the characters.
The slashtasticness also doesn't hurt. ;-)

Date: 2007-06-26 08:50 am (UTC)And yes, the Doctor totally sees Jack on the screen (as far as I can tell) and runs away from him AGAIN!
Bastard. Grrrr.
"Use my name."
"Master."
Rarely does something I've looked forward to this much live up to it :)
Guh.
