It is a truth universally acknowledged that for a young man in possession of a good fortune going on a reality tv show is a sign of insanity. Doing so with one's fucked up family is a trainwreck waiting to happen.
Ever since they announced the Carter kids reality show, I've been cringing in anticipation. But now I admit to really wanting to see it. It's still gonna be a trainwreck, but goddammit, Nick's so earnest and big brotherly in this footage (and the stuff about Jessica Simpson and Nick trying to shut the others up cracked me up), its piqued my interest. Fuck you Carter! grumbles See, I've even made myself a crappy icon.
Thanks to Not Like You. These have got different footage in them.

Making this icon made me think about the various icons I have that I made myself, and how many of them are unfinished - I'm not really happy with them in one way or another, and have been meaning to remake them (or ask someone more talented than me to do it) since I made them. This includes icons I use all the time, and really demonstrates something about my laziness (see also: having the same layout to my journal for virtually forever).
So I wondered, out of the icons I made and use myself, which am I happiest with? It's probably these:

They are both quite simple, but I'm proud of them and enjoy using them. Both were the sort of thing where I knew what text I wanted on them as soon as I saw them. Justin's shoe despair still makes me smile, while the fit of Brian's lyrics with that lovely picture, juxtaposing the Boys and his career with his home and family, still satisfies me.
If you've got icons you made yourself, which are you most satisfied with/proudest of?

Date: 2006-07-19 12:21 pm (UTC)Of my own, i'm especially fond of these:
The first two were made when I was craving a group icon because I was missing them post-hiatus. I wound up making a bunch in the style of Laugh With Me, but that was my favorite of all of them -- it's my favorite picture, so that makes sense. The other, with the scripty Amy, just fit so well in the picture. I wish I was still really actively using that pseud, but I can't bear to part with that icon. The third, well, Slytherin!Lance just kind of sums up my whole HP/*NSYNC crossover affection, and it makes me giggle.
I don't use this one much, but every time I do a big round of deleting old stuff from my icon selection, I wind up bringing it back. I'm easy, but it cracks me up. As soon as those pictures were released of the wax model work, I couldn't resist.

Date: 2006-07-19 01:28 pm (UTC)And I think the icon I'm using here is my absolute favorite. Someone else made the base, and I heard the song on the radio one morning and couldn't wait to get home and use the lyrics. *le sigh* *le otp*

Date: 2006-07-19 01:58 pm (UTC)As for icons I've made myself, I haven't really tried making many icons myself. I really know nothing about it and have very little skill in the visual area. Plus, my BFF
I like this one, and it's useful:
This one's okay:
And this one is the one I worked hardest on. I still like the idea, but the words didn't work out the way I wanted:

Date: 2006-07-19 01:59 pm (UTC)I may have mentioned a time or two before how much I love Justin's shoe despair. It's the perfect text with the perfect picture.
Of all the icons I made myself, this one is my favorite. His hand is so perfectly placed, and held just so, and it's so Lance. I made it from a fan picture (and I'm horrible and don't remember where I got it from to credit) and that's what makes the lighting the way it is. I especially like the glow along the bottom left, which is made by some girl's blonde hair, and I was able to crop it just right, so it looks like I did all sorts of special things to it, but I didn't. I just cropped it, is all.

Date: 2006-07-19 03:41 pm (UTC)As to the icons it took me a bit to narrow it down 'cause I'm always proud that I made the effort to make an icon and I only ever upload icons I'm (mostly) satisfied with. I have to say these two
