erilyn: gabe and mikey's hips (house)

Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] simplybeing! :)

Had lunch with [livejournal.com profile] veronamay today, and even without knowing specifics or spoilers, her excitement over the next ep of House has infected me. Why is it so long til the next episode? *g*

Also, I mentioned to her the thing about Hugh Laurie saying Jesse Spencer was going to get fired if Australia had won the Ashes last year. Did I make this up? Can anyone help me out with a source?

And while I'm asking questions - what is it about myspace that it's taken off as the blogging/social networking tool that celebrities have adopted? Why myspace rather than any other service (and there are a number)?

Fox 8 is doing 24 hours a day of Simpsons, which I don't mind, as The Simpsons is one of the few things I'll regularly watch that they show. I keep turning it on and catching the ends of episodes I've never seen or not seen in ages, and the same thing occurred just then. So I figured I'd stay and see if the next episode was one I hadn't seen too.

...

It's the Nsync episode *g*.

If yo want, I'll let you read my paper on myspace vs LJ vs facebook vs whatever once it's written. Basically myspace appeals to that sect because of the way it's developed, which is different from how a lot of other programs developed.

I would be interested (especially as it's your paper), thanks :)

It's probably horribly elitist of me, but I think myspace is all about the flash and the surface layer - it seems to focus on the layout, and embedding pictures/music/video/whatever onto this spot, whereas other blogs tend to be deeper and somewhat more involved, not as superficial. Plus, myspace is all about looks - people post their pictures there, it's where you "hook up" based on looks and nothing as silly as thoughts or ideas. Hollywood is all about the looks, not so much about substance, and the younger the better. I'm sure it doesn't hurt that there are billions of target-demographic teens on myspace with money and time to burn. Celeb myspaces are pretty much free commercials.

I've read was myspace started as a space for unknown bands to share their music and that it's demographic is a young clubbing crowd - possibly why it appeals to me not at all, and why the only thing I really know about it is from reports on "Lance's myspace" from my pop fandoms friends.

Myspace is for people too stupid to use LJ? Just a theory.

No, that sounds very plausible to me :)

Ah, that makes a lot of sense. And would explain why it doesn't appeal to me either :)

Well obviously, but I thought I should look into other options too ;)
