Oh. My. God.
Nov. 22nd, 2004 09:13 pmOk, they finally aired the finale of "Friends" here. I used to never miss that show, and while I didn't regularly watch it the last couple of seasons, I wasn't missing this. And luckily, I was pretty unspoilt for it, despite the huge delay in it airing, so that was nice.
First, we get a phonecall halfway through. I rush over, and it was fricking market research - I think. The guy got as far as "Hi, this is Some Guy and I'm from AC Niel-" and I was "really. bad. timing. It's the final episode of Friends!" and hung up.
Then, in the final ad break, before everything got resolved, they were advertising the dvds of Friends. They had a split screen, top half showing the Rachel in her wedding dress coming into Central Perk in the first ep. The bottom half had, you guessed it, a shot from the very end of the episode. Thanks a fucking lot. That's right down there with the lotto ad in the ad break of the episode of "Mad About You" where they had their baby, and they told us in the ad that they had a girl - deliberately spoiling the show. That was years ago, and we weren't that big fans, but my sister and I still hold a grudge about that, it was the stupidest, most pointless ad ever. What the hell does it have to do with the fucking $2 lottery anyway???
In nicer news,
i_naiad and
girl_clone came over, and we watched Pros and Sentinel and pop, and there was much squee.
