Life on the Murder Scene
Aug. 22nd, 2007 09:44 pm...or, How My Chemical Romance (and Weezer) reunited me with a childhood friend.
I was in JB HiFi yesterday. I've been trying to be good about money lately, so hadn't been buying much, including Life on the Murder Scene (My Chemical Romance dvd with documentary and videos etc) which I very much wanted (though fortunately I had got to see it at
sinden's place).
But I've paid my bills and stuff, so was fondling various cds. Including the special editions of The Black Parade and A Fever You Can't Sweat Out (which at $80 and $70 respectively - um, no). Putting one of them back, I sent a cd (turned out to be Weezer) flying off the other side of the shelving, almost hitting a guy. I rushed around to apologise and pick it up and he's like "Erilyn?[1] Is that you? It's S" which I realised just as he said his name.
Our mum's were really good friends (still are, just don't get much chance to catch up) and he's a year younger than me, and we were such good friends as kids. I don't know how many hours we spent playing, often Star Wars-inspired games, and I still remember him helping me set up my My Little Pony Dream Stable *g*. I haven't seen him in a few years, and we caught up on gossip (he's older sister had a baby earlier this year, so cool!). But hell, this is such a small city sometimes *g*, especially as he doesn't even live in Sydney most of the time, he was back to visit with his family. What are the fucking odds, really?
So I took that as a sign and bought LOTMS, plus From Under the Cork Tree and A Fever You Can't Sweat Out (regular one), as they were both cheap.
I also fondled some Midtown cds - are they good? I should really check them out.
[1] Or rather my real name - I would have freaked the fuck out if he'd called me this *g*.
