Season's greetings and whatnot
Dec. 24th, 2003 10:34 pmHope everyone has happy holidays, and enjoy what's left of the year :)
I was thinking about how odd it is that at Christmas, I'm surrounded by the winter images and references inherent in Christmassy stuff, but can't really imagine having white and/or cold Christmases (even though I have skiied and stuff a bit, so it's not like the cold wet stuff is completely foreign to me *g*). Christmas just equals summer to me, and the association is stronger than I'd thought. It's gonna be very warm tomorrow (around 33 degrees celsius), but hopefully not unbearable. At least the bushfire threat is a bit lower this year (and I'm touching wood and got *everything* crossed, trying not to jinx things).
We're fairly prepared for tomorrow, but there's still a fair bit to do. I'm getting up at 7am to make a pavlova, and we've still got a lot of the veges to do, but the meat is mostly prepared, the table is set, and outside is reasonably tidy. We've got 12 coming for lunch (14 if you include my brother's dogs, who apparently have to come, yay. Who knows how the cat will deal with this, as we're not gonna be able to keep them inside like we normally do when they're here).

I've only saved them recently, but I can't remember who from, sorry.

Merry Christmas!

Date: 2003-12-24 04:57 am (UTC)Word on summery Christmas. In my head, it will always be about barbecues in the backyard and cold drinks and swimming in the pool.
Hmmm, four minutes to midnight. What the hell, jump the gun... Merry Christmas. :)
