...for 5 minutes, then the anonymous flamers become rather dull, especially once they start in on death threats and vulgar racist insults. Wonder if the Melbournian and Brit werel were linked here by the Canberrian. Eh, whatever.

Whatever. So I'm saying bye bye bye to anonymous posts in my lj. At least I'm getting a good workout from this icon. I triple-mega-heart this icon (which hnix made for me, ages ago).

And before I've even posted this, someone has created an lj just to spam me, it seems. This is turning into quite a day.

If you delete one of those posts using the LJ, it will give you the option to ban them from ever posting in your LJ again.

Or turn off 'non friends' posting, but that's a little drastic.

You just don't get good quality flames these days.

I remember, in the good old days, when we used to get flamed by Pulitzer Prize winning flamers. Or at least, trolled by the editor of PocketBook's Star Trek section. True story.

And we used to have to walk uphill in snow to get to the flames. Both ways.

Did this myself a while back after some idiot took a perfectly harmless post and twisted it beyond recognition. I couldn't be bothered dealing with that kind of crap on a daily basis. And shortly after that I noticed that I'd and several other of my friends had been friended by anonymous_ljer not sure what that's all about but so far, no nastiness has arisen.

I know a few people were concerned by that journal, but it seems to be an active fannish journal these days, though I still don't get the reasoning behind it.

I'd seriously love to know where these people came from. I'm not active on other forums, and haven't been in ages, I don't have a website, and I'm not likely to have been linked to. I don't get it *g*.

I suspect these folks are very much like the trolls who haunt the regular lists, stirring up trouble, spewing inanities, and generally getting people upset. Similarly, the best we can do is ignore them, point fingers and laugh, or disable anonymous posting. It's obvious that these folks have nothing better to do so they waste everyones time attempting to make people miserable. The best defense is not to let that happen.
