iMesh

I need to reinstall this. Is the current version ok (I've got Spybot to remove the junk that comes with iMesh) or should I try and get hold of an older version? I seem to recall hearing that one of the newer versions was less stable or something.

I'm still using the older version (3.1) because I'm way of the new one. Sin says that she tried v.4 (or so), and running Ad-Aware rendered it non-functional. ::shrug::

Ah, it probably was from you guys. I had a feeling I'd want to track down the old one, thanks.

I tried to install 3.1 but it wouldn't work. Hmmm.

Huh, that's weird. I see Bernice is recommending Kazaa lite - I've never been able to get it to, personally (and I have tried a few times) but I know a lot of people swear by it. You just have to be careful that your spyware-removing program doesn't delete the dummy file that it uses.

get it to work, that should be.

I'm trying it now. I can search, and it downloaded one thing easily, and another is queued. Hmmm...

Kazaa Lite (not the real kazaa, but the hacked version) is better than Imesh.

interesting

I've never used Kazaa (either version before), how's it better?

Similar range of available files, but kazaalite doesn't crash the PC/destablise the PC as much. It doesn't utilise all of your computers processing power (it does take over a lot, but at least it can be turned on and off without blue screening). It doesn't have all the ads and software that come with IMESH and full Kazaa. The full kazaa comes with bulldog and adware (not adaware), and other shit. Also, lite is harder to trace, and you can get p2p protection.

Looks like I'll have to try it, iMesh doesn't seem to want to re-install on my computer, so thanks for the info :)

Use the link for kazaalite I gave you, though, not the full version of Kazaa. I'd recommend the p2p protection as well. Also enter in false data.

They seem to say that there is built in protection for the latest release?

Seems to be working ok at the moment, thanks :)

I find the interface much busier and less intuitive than iMesh for some reason, but apart from that, no problems.
