I'm going to see the Opera Australia production of Pirates of Penzance later in the year, but I'm not sure even Anthony Warlow can supplant Jon English as the Pirate King of my heart.

It's about 2:15 onwards that's especially fun. I really need to get this on dvd, to update our much loved VHS copy. It does not seem widely available though, which is annoying.

I had a 1 hour massage this afternoon, which was pretty damn good. Though I swear it was 30-40 minutes max, when she said it was done, I wanted to be like NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, keep going.

Oh, I don't know. I saw PoP with Jon English here in Newcastle several years ago, and it was the most fun I've ever had at the theatre. I know Warlos is great, but I don't think he can outdo Jon.

25th August. Managed to get an A Reserve seat. That's West Side Story, Stephen Fry and Pirates all inside 5 weeks. Not bad ;)

Hahahahahaha - my family is going on the 26th :) Which night are you seeing Stephen Fry? I'm going on Wed 28th.

But I'm not seeing WSS - I've never loved it, despite my love for a lot of musicals and enjoying a number of the WSS songs, probably cause from a young age I was firmly convinced that Romeo and Juliet were a irredeemably stupid pair of twits for whom I felt no sympathy, which then coloured my perceptions of anything R&J-derived. I did love the Baz version of R&J though...

Have you never seen this production? Yay for introducing someone to it \o/ I love it so much!

We first saw it on tv on ABC, and part way through, we realised how awesome it was and taped the rest of the broadcast. Fortunately, we were able to eventually buy a video of it. Then they did another tour and we saw it live at the State Theatre in Sydney, and it was AMAZING :) There are more clips on youtube, it is too much fun.

It's one of those shows that has been on my 'Must get around to seeing this' list for a while, and this clip only cemented in my mind how AWESOME it must be! (I've never seen any of it, just ads.)

Someday.... :D Although I might go hunting Youtube now.
