actual conversation I just had with my parents

me: what was that about Smallville?
dad: why would you care? you haven't watched that in ages?
me: why would I, Lex isn't even on it anymore.
mum: how long did they think they could keep that show going, anyway.
me: it's been renewed for a ninth season.
mum: O.O
me: you'd think by now Clark would be Superman, but no.
dad: well he is kind of retarded

Also, our power went out earlier, for about half an hour, and mum's first thought was "but the last part of Cranford is on tonight! we'll have to go to your sister's place!", because mum, my sister and I all got hooked on this English mini-series with Judi Dench and virtually every "hey, it's that English guy/gal" ever. Including Gene Hunt and Shakespeare from Dr Who.
