closest thing to a political icon I have

NSW residents, don't forget to go vote in your local council elections today!

I'd totally forgotten til mum asked if I was going up to vote with her and dad. We did a last-minute check on who the hell the candidates were, bought a very yummy cake and supported fundraising at my old primary school in the process, and wandered around seeing how the place has changed (they got rid of the awesome old playground area with the giant concrete pipes and tyre bridge!)

Later, I'm gonna hit the gym, watch some terrible tv with [livejournal.com profile] iibnf and then hopefully watch the Wallabies beat the All Blacks in the Tri-Nations decider. Or at least lose in a non-shameful way /o\

HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY [livejournal.com profile] trumpeterofdoom!!!! :D

Have an almost-perfect day!

Someday, I'd like to see an Aust v NZ game where abysmal refereeing isn't such a pivotal factor, and where the All Blacks are actually forced to play by the same offside rules as everyone else. Kaplan pulled back them back because an All Black throw-in didn't go 5 metres - AND GAVE THEM ANOTHER TRY AT IT? THAT'S A FREAKING TURNOVER. Also, just before the NZ try that put them in the lead, he gave penalty against us, when it blatantly should have been for us.

It wasn't the only factor (we went to sleep for a bit, plus why the fuck did they hold off bringing reserves on until 70 minutes - 60 min is usual, and NZ did at 50 min), but it would be really interesting to see.

I thought the pull back was due to a different lineout irregularity, and I was out of the room for the other ;)

Interesting to see the effect of the ELV's and I think the refereeing of the breakdown was pretty tight.

The AB's had a lousy defense out wide in the first half - Mils was most of it. And the replacement strategy worked :)

Great game overall, though. I never thought I'd say it, but Stirlo has become a good captain.

Stirling's play and leadership (hell most of the time) was incomparable in this to the flogging when we played South Africa two weeks ago :)

And Aust beat NZ in the clearly far more important rugby game last night - at the Paralympics :)

Oh man, I saw those guys play in Sydney in 2000 (in between blind volleyball and amputee track). Looked seriously, excruciatingly painful.

Calling it murderball is totally not an exaggeration :D

Heeeeee thank you!

That was totally losing in a non-shameful way (in fact I think you probably should have won). I am a bad kiwi.

tsk tsk tsk (though you're totally right *g*).

In happier news, we beat you at the wheelchair rugby at the Paralympics last night \o/
