fucking minibar

Yo, very important question for anyone who stayed at/visited our apartment at the Medina in Melbourne the other weekend?

Did anyone take any soft drink from the minibar? I've had almost $16 charged to my visa for 4 drinks we supposedly drank. I feel pretty safe in assuming that this is a load of crap, but let me know if you'd needed a drink.

And I was loving our suite of awesomeness so much :(

Pity they didn't try to charge me after today, since I just cancelled my credit card because of dodginess.

Gosh, no. I worked in hotels, I know how dodge the charging is for things like that. How much are they trying to skint you?

Whoops, somehow I deleted an entire sentence from my post. It's $15.60 for 4 drinks, bastards.

Dude, that's about how much I expected. And they were probably those shitty little cans too, knowing how tight hotel assholes are with the minibar. /prejudice

The other thing is that if you bought drinks from the convenience store, and the empties were in the bin, the housekeeper might have just been super lazy and assumed that you drank the hotel's stocks (it happens). Which is stupid, seeing as they would then have had to restock the minibar.

I was wondering about that, but can't recall if anyone bought small drinks, I can only think of the couple of large bottles we grabbed, hmmm.

Plus, [livejournal.com profile] jocondite paid for a minibar item when we checked out, so it's not like we wouldn't have owned up if we had :(

...oh Medina Executive, fail.

Not me, darling. How much did they sting you for?

[identity profile] jocondite.livejournal.com 2008-09-03 09:47 am (UTC)(link)
...and now I see the update, and that is totally rubbish. D:

I'm pretty damn sure we didn't take them, but felt I should ask before getting bitchy to them about it. All else aside, we all bought drinks at the convenience store!

I hope things improve for you quickly.

Nope, we didn't take anything from the minibar. It sucks they're trying to charge you. Can you tell them you're certain that we all bought our own drinks from their convenience store downstairs?

[identity profile] erilyn.livejournal.com 2008-09-03 09:54 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, that's what I'm going to do, but I wanted to be able to say in all honesty that I'd checked with my friends ;)

[identity profile] papercompany.livejournal.com 2008-09-03 09:55 am (UTC)(link)
I was trying to think if maybe we'd left small ones behind that they mistakenly thought were from the minibar, but all that comes to mind is the big bottles of lift and coke. =\

[identity profile] notyourfriend.livejournal.com 2008-09-03 09:58 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, we only had the big bottle from the convenience store downstairs.

Me too, as far as I can recall.

When I complain, I'm totally bringing up the fact that the apartment hadn't been properly cleaned, since there was a chocolate lying around when we got in there.

[identity profile] notyourfriend.livejournal.com 2008-09-03 10:01 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it's not professional. :/

[identity profile] makealimb.livejournal.com 2008-09-03 10:09 am (UTC)(link)
Ughhhh that sucks so hard. I hope you can get it sorted. ♥

[identity profile] erilyn.livejournal.com 2008-09-03 11:21 am (UTC)(link)
yeah, it's a shitty little postscript to an otherwise great weekend :(

[identity profile] indybrat.livejournal.com 2008-09-03 11:44 am (UTC)(link)
I can honestly say it wasn't me, and I'm 99% sure noboby took anything from the minibar, other than B's chocolates that she paid for. I'd ask them why they think we took stuff- it would be interesting to know if they did put it down to empties in the bin. Although as everyone else has said, we had full size cans and or 1.25l bottles. Are you sure it's minibar they're charging for and not for us not doing the dishes/cleaning?

[identity profile] erilyn.livejournal.com 2008-09-03 11:46 am (UTC)(link)
It's itemised - 2 x cola, 1 lemonade and 1 mineral water (ugh, can't stand the stuff). Grrrrr >:(

In the past, we have checked into hotels with minibars and found *on arrival* that there are items missing from the minibar, or items in the minibar which are empty. (Like, someone consumed the contents, put the lid back on and hid the bottle at the back so it looks like everything is there.)

I'd complain, and next time you're someplace with a minibar, check on arrival and bitch then if anything is incorrect. :)
