HERE WE GO, HERE WE GO, HERE WE GO
WE WON!!!! The NSW Waratahs thrashed the Sharks, 28-13, and it was actually more one-sided than the scoreline suggests. FOUR TRIES! A standing ovation for Phil Waugh when he went off during the second half - it was the captain's 100th game for NSW, and he's awesome. And a sweet last home victory for the outgoing coach, Ewan McKenzie, who's been dumped by the fuckwits who theoretically run NSW rugby.
We meet the Crusaders in the final, sadly in Christchurch, we could have had a home final if the Hurricanes had won, alas. I'm a bit worried about our goalkicking - Beale only managed 2 from 7 this week, and 3 from 7 last week. Odds are against us anyway, playing the Crusaders and at home in Christchurch (we've never won there much), but if we can't even kick penalties and convert tries, we're even more screwed. But that's for next week, this week, I'm just...

I was proud of my boys for making the semis. I so wish we could have been fighting out the final between us (not that I want you to stick that calendar with pins!). Now I'm stuck with supporting either the Cantabs - who I hate, but are the NZ team - or the Waratahs, which is, your team, but still Australian. Tough choices ahead!
I was watching the Canes vs Crusaders game at my Mom's last night. Did you watch it? Anyway, Jerry Collins took the last conversion kick. And Ma was all "Oh, that's so nice they let him kick." And I said "That is a sign he's just played his last game for the Hurricanes before heading to England to play. Trust me." So I bought the mood down even more! Oooops. Hope I'm wrong, but I very much doubt it. Sadfacings.
Sorry to rave on, but you're my only flister that really understands! Go your boys. Best of luck for next week. I'll be watching and enjoying the Australian commentators (definitely the best in the world!). It'll be a game of two halves, all credit to the teams, rugby will be the winner on the day, and thanks to the ladies in the kitchen for the feed.

I only saw parts of the first half, while we were getting ready, cause then we were making our way out to the game. That charge down try got my hopes up for you! Carter was pulling an hilarious confused face after that, all "hey, that's not supposed to happen". Hope there's a better sized crowd for the final than the semi - only 18,000? We managed 37,000, and the Waratahs haven't been drawing crowds like that all season, trust me.
Is Jerry Collins gonna head overseas? It's sad when they do, but I can't blame them for wanting to pull in the big money in the latter years of their careers, the European clubs have no salary cap :( I really hope we don't lose Rocky Elsom, NSW Rugby need to pay him whatever he asks, especially when he plays like he did last night.

I must admit, after watching your boys last night (yes, I watched the game even knowing my lads wouldn't be in the final), they are going to so give the Cantabs a fight! Very similar strengths. It'll be interesting to see who wins. I'm guessing whoever holds onto the ball and takes it up into them. And if they have to kick: do it to the land, and not to the hand! Something our 'Captain' admitted at the end of the semi. I paraphrase, but not by much 'Oh, yeah, I think we could have had it, if we'd hung onto the ball. Maybe we should've done that more.' I've only been yelling that at them all year!!
Still, next year eh? And you'll be the champs then. It'll be good times!
ETA: Oh, and Jerry. Yeah, much sadness, but he 'played away from home' in the off-season and has a daughter in England now, so I can kinda, maybe, forgive him. (No, that's a lie, I won't and can't. I haven't even got over Tana leaving!)
