erilyn: gabe and mikey's hips (panic-group2)

things have changed for me

At least I hope they're going to, in a good way.

After a lot of stress, and discussing some things with the HR person from the other company (who, well over a week later, still hadn't scheduled my next round interview), I've declined to interview with them again and have signed the contract for the job I was offered. It's a big relief to have that decided. I start on June 30th, less than two weeks after my final exam (though I'll still be working after my exams at my current job, won't really have a break between). I better pass everything! It's a graduate position in a national firm, and despite starting 6 months earlier than most grads (Jan/Feb), I still get to go to Perth for the orientation week early next year with the rest of them, yay.

Corny post title is because I was watching V2 (music channel), and after This Ain't A Scene, I saw The Green Gentlemen music video on tv for the first time (I'd heard V had it in high rotation). It's even prettier in good quality on my tv :D Do you think Spencer was rowing because if they left it to anyone else, they'd either just go in circles, or sink? And then I remembered to upload this icon I made.

Also, my boys (the NSW Waratahs rugby union team) have made it to the semi-finals of the Super 14, finishing 2nd so we get the home semi final too *\o/* This is even more commendable given they finished 13th (out of 14) last season.

For my own reference, the release dates for upcoming movies I want to see (...well, maybe want to see, I'm wary of XF):
Indiana Jones - 22 May
Prince Caspian - 5 June
Hancock - 3 July
Mama Mia - 10 July
Dark Knight - 17 July
XFiles 2 - 24 July

Congratulations on choosing a job! I can just imagine the relief!

Thank you, it's nice to be able to stop worrying about it (and not have to go to more interviews *g*).

[identity profile] not-nele.livejournal.com 2008-05-19 12:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh well done. Now you can think of more important things, like visiting Perth!

I think Spencer had to row because he was the only one with calluses. Little drummer boy. The others have delicate man hands. They moisturise.

I totally tried not to let a free trip to Perth influence me too much ;)

I bet Brendon wanted to row, and everyone else was like "NO!"

Yay! I'm glad the work situation has been settled. Congratulations!

Rage played TGG first thing last weekend, which made me happy. =) Also, I know it's probably because Spencer doesn't actually have an instrument to play on that boat (or, it seems, in any acoustic session...poor Spencer) but yeah, I could just imagine the problems they'd have if they let anyone else do it. It makes me think of how, in that road movie MTV promo, when the van breaks down Jon and Ryan's useful contribution is to make up a song. Rather than attempt to look at the engine.

[identity profile] erilyn.livejournal.com 2008-05-20 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
Sadly, that is probably more useful than letting them near the engine *g*.

Such a relief to have the job situation settled. I can stop whining to everyone about it now too ;)

Thank you, I'm so happy I've got a job and can start thinking about an actual career. It's mindboggling.

Congrats on picking the job, that is excellent. Hooray for having plans a bit settled and all that. And go your boys!

[identity profile] erilyn.livejournal.com 2008-05-20 12:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Tsk tsk, surely you should be supporting another NZ team now that the Blues are out?

And thank you! :D

[identity profile] shihadchick.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
Dude, I'm half Australian, and if I'm lucky I can remember there are 15 guys on a rugby team on the field at a time, so... I tend to barrack for teams based on "who people I think should be happy about their sports teams winning support". which explains why all four NHL teams I support are, like, each others deadliest enemies. Apparently I have interestingly geographically located friends. ;)

[identity profile] erilyn.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 08:12 am (UTC)(link)
I seem to collect non-rugby-following NZ friends. You guys are destroying my dearly believe stereotypes!

[identity profile] shihadchick.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 08:17 am (UTC)(link)
I just let [livejournal.com profile] morebliss carry the side over here, frankly! *grins* I admire her dedication to her boys, too, so...

Congratulations!

It's a load off my mind, that's for sure :D

[identity profile] hnix.livejournal.com 2008-05-24 08:51 am (UTC)(link)
I realise that this is a little belated, but: congratulations! I'm glad you can stop fretting and start anticipating. *g*

Trying not to think about it too much, it makes me so nervous!

Thank you! :D
