ftp programs

This is a really bad time to be posting about things like this (given that everyone is so busy and LJ is pretty quiet), but...

Does anyone have any recs for a good FTP program that I don't have to pay for? I've been using WS_FTP for ages, but since I'm on a download/install frenzy for the new computer, I thought I should seek recs.

Thanks!

I use AceFTP 3 freeware, and it's always worked fine for me.

I use this one too. It's dead easy.

I use Core FTP - IIRC there are 2 versions, one is free and one is not. I use the free version and found it was easy to learn. I have a feeling Sin uses that as well - or she did in the past because I'm sure that's where I got the rec from.

I second this rec. The free version even does SSL transfer.

Sin does use that, and so do I. It's a nice program - better than WS_FTP, which is what I was using before, too.

I use SmartFTP since FTP Surfer crapped out on me. It looks needlessly complex, but it's straightforward enough. And free. I like it.

I use SmartFTP as well, had no trouble with it but it's difficult to teach to non-computer savvy coworkers. I tried Fire FTP, a Firefox plugin, and I'm starting to like it.

I use SmartFTP too. Other than the annoying start up messages, it's a pretty cool program for free.

FlashFXP is really great, but not free, which sucks. You might want to try FileZilla. I've tried SmartFTP, but I don't particularly like it, though it's alright.

I really really like Filezilla. Is easy and you know it's secure coz it's made by mozilla. Has drag & drop features.

I second the Filezilla recommendation. It's what I use when forced to use Windows.
