Nsync's tenth anniversary

Please don't direct link to the files, or link to my journal on message boards or communities. I was going to get this ready during the week, but yeah, that didn't happen *g*. So, not as coherent as I'd hoped, but enjoy! Warning for dialup users - lots of pictures.

Ten years ago today, Nsync did their first public performance, at Pleasure Island at Disney World. This was only weeks after Lance joined the group, and less than a year later, they would sign a record contract.

+ Nsync Pleasure Island Concert - 150 meg, avi

Who could have forseen them going from that performance, or this rendition of the anthem at the Orlando Arena
+ National Anthem, 1995 - 12 meg

To performing at the closing ceremony to the Winter Olympics, and doing a concert there.
+ Winter Olympics 2000 - National Anthem - 11 meg

It's been a hell of a journey since those early days.

+ I Thought She Knew (alternative demo version) - 3 meg

And their start in Germany.
+ I Want You Back, 1996 - 22 meg

But they did it together.

Including overcoming many challenges to become one of the biggest groups in the US and set amazing sales records.

But no matter how big they got, they never lost their sense of humour.
+ Road to Celebrity - first MTV performance flashback - 16 meg
+ Live at Much 2001 - first performance at Much flashback - 8 meg

Or their excitement at winning (their numerous) awards.
+ 1999 AMAs - 7 meg

They were on more magazine covers than you could count.

Let alone the photoshoots.

And their incredibly fun interactions on so many tv shows and appearances (and willingness to parody themselves) just cemented their popularity.

+ MTV Spring Break - 13 meg

Or intrigued us for other reasons, when on rare occasions the good humour faded.
+ Wango Tango 2000 - 6 meg

They made funny and gorgeous videos, put on amazing tours and shows, including one the biggest stadium tours ever, concert dvds, awards show performances, tv concert and their IMAX film.

+ Atlantis - Up Against the Wall - 21 meg
+ Celebrity tour - Beatles zip - 7 meg

Though their fashion sense was sometimes...interesting.

Their fame and fans became unbelievable...and occasionally too much.
+ Pop Odyssey - fan on stage - 7 meg

And in the last few years, there have still been group projects to enjoy.
+ When You Wish Upon A Star (a capella) - 2 meg
+ 2003 Grammys BeeGees Tribute - 14 meg

And really, despite all the fame and accomplishments, I believe they never stopped being these dorky boys. And that's why we love them.

chairs gag - 0.5 meg

So celebrate Nsync!

On a personal note - it was almost three years ago (in a couple of weeks) that I started reading popslash (thanks [livejournal.com profile] hnix!). At first, I didn't know one from another (hell, I couldn't have told you if Justin Timberlake was from Nsync or BSB), and I didn't want to watch footage, I just wanted to read the fiction. There was mention of deep deep shame. Then we started to watch. And listen. And suddenly I owned cds and dvds and would get annoyed when people would say that they can't sing *g* (And one group was enough, don't bother showing me anything from those other guys...). I've seen Justin in concert, and travelled around the world to see Nsync in Chicago. I've made amazing friends, and gotten to meet some of them in person, and gotten so much enjoyment from Nsync's music and the guys themselves. Call me foolish, but I do believe that we will get more group stuff. In the meantime, bring on the solo albums and projects to support and enjoy. And here's to the next ten years.

Chris, JC, Joey, Lance and Justin - you'll never know how much I enjoy being your fan.

Thank you.

PS - I suck and haven't finished posting about CFTC, so haven't posted this before. Here's my one of my favourite Nsync moments.

Thank you so much. It is hard to put into words just what those boys have done to all of us in ten years but you summed it up really well. I miss them but still love them. I can't believe everything they have been through, good and bad and just wish them plenty more successes in the future.

Man, I get a little teary-eyed thinking about it!

I downloaded some of the stuff I didn't have, including the Pleasure Island concert.
Happy Nsync 10! :)

[identity profile] erilyn.livejournal.com 2005-10-22 12:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I was getting teary-eyed writing this at times, I'm glad you found it fitting :) Enjoy the footage!

[identity profile] raynedanser.livejournal.com 2005-10-22 12:44 pm (UTC)(link)
this was beautiful. Downloaded nearly all of it. Had most of it, but on various and assorted cds and today I am all about the lazy, so this was the easy way out.

And OMG! Hey! Who's that funny looking dude in the pic with you? ;-)

[identity profile] erilyn.livejournal.com 2005-10-22 12:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! I enjoyed putting it together :)

I don't know! Some random dude who would not stop talking to me in the bar, I took a photo with him just so he'd shut up and go away.

[identity profile] erilyn.livejournal.com 2005-10-22 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Eeeeek! Yes, I talked to him the evening before briefly, just commenting that I'd come from Australia for CFTC, and then I managed to get a photo that day :)

And you're welcome!

[identity profile] callsigns.livejournal.com 2005-10-22 01:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for a lovely, lovely tribute. I took a few files and cried a little bit. :)

[identity profile] erilyn.livejournal.com 2005-10-22 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] truekat.livejournal.com 2005-10-22 01:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you for so many great things. DL'ed several and saw quite a few pix that were new to me! And yes, I do believe a tear or two may have slipped out, too! :)

[identity profile] erilyn.livejournal.com 2005-10-22 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I tried to use some pics that I don't see around as much :) I'm glad you enjoyed it, thanks.

[identity profile] lincolnkw.livejournal.com 2005-10-22 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
FANTASTIC!!!

But I have to know, what was the chairs thing from? I have watched that at least five times now and it makes me snicker every time.

[identity profile] erilyn.livejournal.com 2005-10-22 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I wish I knew, that clip is how I got it! *g*

[identity profile] mickeym.livejournal.com 2005-10-22 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, god. What a lovely, loving tribute! I'm a little teary-eyed, and wow. Such a wonderful thing to wake up to. Thank you so much for this, for sharing it with us. *hugs*

[identity profile] erilyn.livejournal.com 2005-10-22 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)

Thank you so much! I snagged some of the files and I'm going to spend this evening being all nostalgic and watch pretty boys. (Which feels a little strange since I came into the fandom a year ago!) But I will *not* watch the Pleasure Island demo again, it's just *too much* :-)

[identity profile] erilyn.livejournal.com 2005-10-22 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Awwww, go on, watch it again (and again *g*), you know you want to.

[identity profile] trumpeterofdoom.livejournal.com 2005-10-22 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, this was a lovely, lovely post. And I love that you put up the photoshoot where JC is wearing AJ's pants. *mwah*

You're welcome, enjoy the never-ending weirdness that is that clip.

And the chairs footage is just so them - I love it so much :)

[identity profile] babygotbass.livejournal.com 2005-10-22 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for this collection of clips and photos - I have never seen the clip of them on the KCA getting slimed!

It was great to meet you at CFTC this year! Just one more bonus in this fandom.

[identity profile] erilyn.livejournal.com 2005-10-22 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll have to look to see if I have that - I've seen it, I think...

Our pizza adventures are an unforgettable part of my Chicago experience! And meeting you too ;p

[identity profile] mickeykiley.livejournal.com 2005-10-22 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
What a wonderful tribute! I took a few of the clips and will have so much fun watching them tonight. That is a great photo of you and Joey.

[identity profile] erilyn.livejournal.com 2005-10-23 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
Enjoy the footage :) And thank you - I'd spoken to him briefly the night before but was too shy to ask for a picture, so I wasn't missing another opportunity! *g*

[identity profile] marythefan.livejournal.com 2005-10-23 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
You rock, so much. This is such a great overview.

Grabbing a few things I don't have. Thanks for putting these up!

[identity profile] erilyn.livejournal.com 2005-10-23 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
So much to say, so little time and space to say it in. Thanks, and I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

So sweet and funny. I think I took like maybe one clip?

[identity profile] erilyn.livejournal.com 2005-10-24 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
Awww, I didn't pick the best mix of files then ;) But I'm glad you enjoyed the post.

[identity profile] ninjetti75.livejournal.com 2005-10-23 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, Lynn, this was SO great!

Just wow.

You summed up so much, truly.

Thanks SO much for sharing this with us (and the files & pics!!) and for putting what we've all felt into words.

The Pop fandom is such a wonderful thing, and *NSYNC is such a huge part of that. Thanks for putting all this together!

Wow. Ten years, huh? Amazing. *g*

[identity profile] erilyn.livejournal.com 2005-10-24 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
It really is amazing, and this fandom (and Nsync themselves) are just so wonderful that I had to celebrate this day. I'm so glad you found it a fitting tribute :)

[identity profile] trickyjazzer.livejournal.com 2005-10-23 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
*sigh* Very well celebrated! Thank you for sharing! :)

[identity profile] erilyn.livejournal.com 2005-10-24 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
I couldn't not post something to celebrate them :)

[identity profile] engenda.livejournal.com 2005-10-23 09:34 am (UTC)(link)
What a lovely tribute.

I downloaded some stuff - you go, girl! You rock very, very hard.

And dude, the Wango Tango interview...I love the little wink. So. Damn. Cute(and to me funny). All scowly and serious. I must say, JT gives very good dirty looks.

[identity profile] erilyn.livejournal.com 2005-10-24 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
That is seriously some of the most intriguing footage of Nsync ever. The interaction between Chris and Justin is just so unusual *g*.

And I'm so glad you enjoyed the footage and pictures :)

[identity profile] blueboxers.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you! I have highspeed internet JUST FOR TONIGHT and downloaded the files! *hugs* You are the best.

[identity profile] erilyn.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
Glad you could get them, enjoy the footage :)
