song meme thingy

Belated bandwagon leaping upon. First line(s) of songs from cds I've been listening to at work, picked using the shuffle button :) No looking up the lyrics (though for a number of these I doubt that'll be necessary), and I'll be amused if someone owns up to recognising one of these *g*.

1. Sitting here wasted and wounded at this old piano
Bed of Roses by Bon Jovi, [livejournal.com profile] indybrat
2. Once we were lovers just lovers we were, oh what a lie
10,000 Promises by Backstreet Boys, [livejournal.com profile] phantomsgyrl
3. I'm gnawing on the knowledge that I have been burnt
I Held Her In My Arms by Violent Femmes, [livejournal.com profile] girl_clone
4. If you listen to the night you can hear the darkness call
5. Now we can say that nothing's lost and only change brings round the prophecy
6. You from New York, you are so relevant
So Pure by Alanis Morisette, [livejournal.com profile] sinbrat
7. The late George Woolnough worked on High Street
Tenterfield Saddler by Peter Allen, [livejournal.com profile] indybrat
8. Sucker love is heaven sent, you pucker up our passion's spent
Every Me, Every You by Placebo, [livejournal.com profile] sinbrat
9. Wrapped inside a twisted world, I can’t decide what is even real anymore
Holy Tears by Tara MacLean, [livejournal.com profile] hammerhead22
10. Lights out tonight, trouble in the heartland
Badlands by Bruce Springsteen, [livejournal.com profile] marythefan

And new icon, made by the fabulous miss [livejournal.com profile] hnix :)

Spot on! I was listening to "A Night Out", I like the live version better than the album :)

I second that thought. I had the live version playing when I read your entry. Isn't that freakish.

1 is Bed of Roses by Bon Jovi
7 is Tennifield Saddler by Peter Allan - although I may have misspelt that. *g*

[identity profile] indybrat.livejournal.com 2004-12-15 12:52 pm (UTC)(link)
and indeed I did spell it incorrectly - it should be Tenterfield Saddler. I love that song.

[identity profile] erilyn.livejournal.com 2004-12-15 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes and yes! And Tenterfield Saddler is a gorgeous song :)

[identity profile] claire.livejournal.com 2004-12-15 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
3 is Violent Femmes, Held Her In My Arms.

I really only know that because for some reason, someone I used to email with a bit had it as part of their .sig file. I probably do actually own the song since I have various VF things, but I couldn't pick it out of a crowd.

[identity profile] erilyn.livejournal.com 2004-12-16 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Heh, I still recall some distinctive sigs from extensive emailers in years gone by :)
